History

The Company was Founded in 1997 by Blair and Sue Arrowsmith, Arrowsmith is a homegrown family company at its core, with principles and values ensuring the highest level of care is taken with each and every project.

A qualified Carpenter since 1985 with over 37 years of construction and building experience, Blair's initial focus was on corporate Commercial maintenance projects, involving on-the-spot problem-solving and cost-effective solutions. Since then, Blair and the Arrowsmith team have managed and completed projects in almost every aspect of construction, from maintenance through to new builds of both residential and commercial scale, and from idea to turnkey in some cases.

Blair has managed the construction of America’s Cup Headquarters (C.O.R.M), and projects for large corporate clients such as the Ministry of Education, Local Government, Oranga Tamariki, Stage Coach Buses, Fuller Ferries, Nissan NZ, Gillette NZ, and many more.

Through dedication, hard work, and adding to the team, Blair and Sue developed from a small family business into the trusted and respected larger commercial/residential construction company that is Arrowsmith, with results that speak to Arrowsmith's abilities.

Proudly Arrowsmith is always investing back in our own people.Many in Arrowsmith's team are fully qualified in their field of expertise, including Quantity Surveying, Project management, Accountancy, Business management, H&S. We also have close affiliation with all other professional services needed in the construction and consulting environment

We are Platinum and Gold members of the Certified Builders Association of New Zealand since 1998. This means we work to the highest standards helping to protect customers by ensuring all our builders are qualified and that ethical practises and excellent standards are always followed.

Arrowsmith  are Licenced Building Practioners, holding Carpentry, Site 1 and Site 2 licences, meaning our builders are trained with skill and precision and are constantly looking to further their already impressive abilities with training.

Blair Arrowsmith

Founder & Managing Director

Blair and Sue founded Arrowsmith Builders Ltd in 1997.

Through hard work and dedication to being "the good guys" and providing an honest and professional service in all aspects, Blair and Sue have developed what started as a small home based business into a well known, successful and rapidly growing Commercial Construction Company.

A qualified Carpenter since 1985, Blair's initial focus was maintenance projects which involved on the spot problem solving and cost effective solutions. He has since managed and completed projects in almost every aspect of construction, from maintenance through to new builds both residential and commercial.  Blair has managed the construction of the America’s Cup Headquaters (C.O.R.M), and many projects for large corporate clients such as Ministry of Education, Stage Coach Buses,

Fuller Ferries, Nissan NZ, Gillette NZ, and many more.

Blair currently manages the Maintenance Division of the Company while also contributing in a consulting role within the project management of all other projects undertaken by Arrowsmith Builders Ltd.

With Blair's wealth of knowledge gained from 36 years experience in the construction industry, you can rely on his advice no matter what your project entails.

Logan Basham

Director & Construction Manager

With a proven track record of successful projects, and over 20 years of experience in bespoke architectural builds, renovations, and industrial and commercial refurbishment, Logan is a skilled strategist ready to tackle any project no matter the complexity. Logan has worked in multiple locations around New Zealand, including Auckland, Wellington, Whakatane, New Plymouth, Gisborne, and now Tauranga. This diverse experience has given him a unique perspective on the construction industry and a deep understanding of the specific challenges and opportunities that come with building in different and challenging locations. He values strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project partners. This focus on communication and collaboration ensures that every project is completed to the highest standards, with no detail overlooked.

Combining over a decade of ‘on the tools’ managing multiple concurrent construction sites, with over 5 years of senior project management experience, Logan has a strong ability to transform strategic plans into workable solutions and rely on his keen eye for detail. Logan excels at pre-construction planning, programming, client liaison, stakeholder management, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making. This allows him to take on even the most complex projects, delivering results that exceed expectations.

Ryan Pratt

Director & Commercial Manager

As an experienced Quantity Surveyor, Ryan is skilled in various aspects of the construction industry, including negotiation, pricing strategy, quantity surveying, construction methodology, and cost control. With diplomas from Bay of Plenty Polytechnic, Ryan has a strong background in operations and has demonstrated a commitment to providing commercial support, upskilling, and training to help businesses grow and improve project outcomes.

Apart from providing commercial support, Ryan has extensive experience in project management, risk profiling, business development, construction programming, conflict resolution, and contract administration.

Ryan’s key focus is on project risk profiling and management, company governance, and overall leadership allows for a well-rounded approach that strives for the best outcome.

Subcontractor management and negotiation is also an area of expertise, allowing for successful management of resources and efficient project execution. Ryan understands that staff engagement, encouragement, and support are critical to the success of any business.

By providing training and upskilling opportunities, Ryan helps to build a strong and motivated team that drives the company forward.

Aaron Hill

General Manager

With over two decades of hands-on experience in the construction industry, Aaron has amassed considerable expertise, consistently delivering projects that meet client expectations. His experience stretches across managing multiple new builds in the residential sector and large commercial projects, giving him deep insights into client needs and crafting solutions specific to these requirements.

Venturing into development, Aaron has accumulated valuable experience in project administration, management, and leadership. These skills facilitate a seamless and efficient construction process to the benefit of clients. Furthermore, he's successfully run a business for over 15 years, during which he pursued academic accomplishments pertinent to his profession.

Completing his NZ Building Certificate in 2011, Aaron later delved into a business degree, eventually segueing into law. He obtained the Diploma of Law and rounded off his legal studies with the LLB. With academic laurels in construction, business, and law, particularly focusing on construction administration and relationships, Aaron possesses a robust foundation in legal and business aspects. These capabilities allow him to offer clients informed advice and professionally manage any potential disputes.

His emphasis on nurturing and growing relationships with clients has enhanced the professionalism and transparency in his approach to construction. A committed supporter of the Construction Accord, Aaron has collaborated with government agencies to promote better results for all stakeholders, from builders to customers.
